Hazem Eltahawy MD FACS
Dr Eltahawy started practicing in 2005 after completing a fellowship in spine surgery at Wayne State University, fellowships in neuro-oncology and functional neurosurgery at University of Toronto, a clinical and research fellowship in London, United Kingdom and residency in neurosurgery at Ain Shams University. He believes in using the finest technology to provide the best plan suited to the needs of each individual patient. Having served as the President of Michigan Association of Neurological Surgeons and an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at Wayne State University, he has mentored and trained many neurosurgeons that have established successful careers in helping their patients and serving the communities.

2010: First in the world to perform a Robotic assisted minimally invasive spinal fusion surgery in an outpatient surgery center. This revolutionary technique opened the door for discharge home on the same day of surgery, faster healing and rapid return to work and hobbies.
2011: First to introduce minimally invasive lateral access to the spinal column for correction of spinal deformities in Michigan.
2007: First to perform a 2 level total disc arthroplasty (artificial disc replacement) in Michigan. This revolutionary technology allows preservation of the motion of the spine after spine.
2006: First to perform minimally invasive spinal fusion at the Detroit Medical Center
2005: First to perform deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's disease at the Detroit Medical Center

At Eltahawy Neurosurgery & Spine Care Center, we treat a wide range of tumors that arise from or compress the brain, spinal cord and / or peripheral nerves.
